Cyclings is about enabling you, the Teachers, Teaching Assistants, support workers and all the other amazing people in schools, pre-schools and nurseries, to deliver fun, structured and engaging cycling sessions.

Cyclings makes delivering engaging and fun EYFS balance bike PE sessions a reality.

Delivered in school, inside or outside, we have developed a range of different activities that are linked and sequential and built around the requirements of the Characteristics of Effective Learning and all aimed at supporting the development of the children across all of the 9 characteristics. It’s not just about learning to ride a bike (but try telling the children that when they’re zooming around under their own steam!) but rather the development of all round skills, Gross Motor Skills, leading to Fine Motor Skills and improved pen control, communication, perception, spatial awareness as well as many other ‘soft skills’.

We recommend that everyone takes part in Cyclings sessions, even those who can already ride a bike at home, they will still benefit from the structure of the sessions, some of the core skills you’ll practice as well as improved balance and agility.

Cyclings is an ideal tool for Narrowing the Gap in EYFS.

We also encourage the use of Cyclings to continue to work with pupils and help with ‘Narrowing the Gap’.

Many of our schools use Cyclings all year round and really find fantastic results with children who have additional learning needs, or who benefit from being outside the classroom for their learning. There are a whole range of additional games and activities on the Members area of the website for you to use to keep sessions interesting and engaging.

I’m interested, what’s the process?

We don’t provide ‘off the shelf’ kits to schools. We won’t just send you one in the post and ask you to start running sessions. It’s important to us that you can meet us, share our passion for the programme and learn some of the core activities that you can start delivering to your children.

We will come out and spend half a day with you and the team. There is no limit to how many people can attend this training, we want to make sure it carries on being delivered to the highest standard for many years to come so we encourage you to invite all your classroom based people along to learn the ropes. You’ll need to have a DBS and insurance for them as you would for any activity, then as long as you’ve been on the course you’ll be able to start delivering. If in future you need more training then you can log on to the Members only area and book another session too.

Firstly you’ll need to fill in the expression of interest form here  then we’ll be in touch to arrange a date for your training. Have a think about where you’ll store your kit (you’ll have the option to purchase a storage shed from us when you sign up if you need one), then we’ll do the rest. We’ll bring the equipment with us and show you how to set it all up and how to look after it, then we’ll show you the resources and how to use them, and then you’ll get to have a go at delivering some of the activities yourselves and then you’ll be ready to start.

Once you’ve been running sessions for a while you may find you need extra help or resources from us and so you’ll have your own access to a very special Members area of the Cyclings.co.uk website. On here you’ll find classroom resources you can download, or video tutorials of new games to try and there’s even a shop on there so you can order extra equipment if you need it.
